Question 172734: I'm not sure if i am in the right area, but could someone please help me?
Solve by the substitution method.
5x + 7y = 7
-8x + y = 62
What is the solution of the system? (Type an ordered pair. Type N is there is no solution.
Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve by the substitution method.
5x + 7y = 7
-8x + y = 62
----------
y = 8x+62 (from the 2nd eqn)
Sub into eqn 1
5x + 7*(8x+62) = 7
61x = -427
x = -7
---------
-8*(-7) + y = 62
y = 6
------
(-7,6) is the intersection of the 2 lines.
