Question 172680: Please help me on this question I don't get it at all.
What is the y-intercept and slope of (8, -2); (4, -4)
I got the slope but when I tried finding the y-intercept the slope came out wrong.
This is how I solved for the slope:
I used the slope equation:y²-y¹/x²-x¹
and I got -2/-6

Please help me on this question I don't get it at all.
What is the y-intercept and slope of (8, -2); (4, -4)
I got the slope but when I tried finding the y-intercept the slope came out wrong.
This is how I solved for the slope:
I used the slope equation:y²-y¹/x²-x¹
and I got -2/-6
---------------
slope m = (-2 - (-4))/(8-4)
m = 2/4 = 1/2
-----------------
then use either point:
y=y1 = m*(x-x1)
y + 4 = 1/2(x-4)
y = (1/2)x - 6
Y-intercept = -6
