When I did this one, i took out the parenthesis and simplified to 6y-3=9. Then I added 3 to each side, and got 6y=12. then i got y=2, which is wrong. Can you explain how you do this? Answer by pwac(253) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! when you took out parenthesis it should have been +3
- or + in front of bracket on their own means a 1 should be there
e.g 8y-1(2y-3)=9 this changes your simplification to
8y-2y+3=9
6y=6
y=1
