Let's say that we have the equation in slope-intercept form y=-2x%2B5

To get the equation in standard form, simply get the variable term 2x to the left side and rearrange the terms:


y=-2x%2B5 Start with the given equation.


y%2B2x=5 Add 2x to both sides.


2x%2By=5 Rearrange and combine like terms.



Now the equation is in standard form Ax%2BBy=C where A=2, B=1 and C=5
