well..lets call the normal rate and time r and t respectively. so if rate is 10% faster then the rate would be 1.1r in this case and t would be t-(1/2)
:
4400=rt--->r=4400/t
:
4400=1.1r(t-1/2)
:
take r's value from first equation and plug it into second equation
:
4400=1.1(4400/t)((2t-1)/2) cross multiply
:
8800t=1.1(4400)(2t-1)
:
8800t=4840(2t-1)---> 8800t=9680t-4840
:
880t=4840
:
t=5.5hours so plugging this into the 1st equation
