:
n+d=102.............eq 1
.05(n)+.1(d)=9.60...eq 2---->because each nickel is worth .05 and every dime .10
:
lets rewrite eq 1 to n=102-d...now take n's value and plug it into eq 2
:
.05(102-d)+.1d=9.60
:
5.1-.05d+.1d=9.6
:
.05d=4.5
