48/3=16 MPH DOWNSTREAM.
48/6=8 MPH UPSTREAM.
(16-8)/2=8/2=4 MPH IS THE SPEED OF THE STREAM.
PROOF:
16-4=12
8+4=12 SPEED OF THE BOAT IN STILL WATER.
