plus 12 on both side
3x+(12)-12=15+(12)
3x=27
divide by 3 on both sides
x=9

Add 12 to each side of the equation.
3x - 12 + 12 = 15 + 12
Combine like terms:
-12 + 12 = 0
15 + 12 = 27
Therefore:
3x = 27
Divide each side by 3
