Question 170444: The perimeter of a rectangle is 22 cm. The length is 7 cm longer than the width. What are the length and width of the rectangle?
I figure p = 22 cm; l = 7 cm + width; l + w = 22 cm; 2l + 2w = 22 cm;
I don't know where to go from there. I'm sorry. I really appreciate your help. (Pre-Algebra didn't prepare me for algebra word problems.) This does not come from a textbook, but from a sample test from the head of the Math Dept. Thank you very much.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR PROBLEM what did you say l was ? 7cm.+w .So you say 2l+2w=22cm. so why don't you say 14cm. +2w +2w=22cm. Therefore w=2cm. l=9cm. Course l=7+w 22=2l+2w 14 +4w=22 w=2 l=9 all units the same -no??
