You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's call the number X.

"is" means equals.

.
"8 less than one-helf of the number"
%281%2F2%29X-8
.
.
.
Put it all together.
%281%2F3%29X=%281%2F2%29X-8
Multiply both sides by 3%2A2 to get rid of denominators.

2X=3X-48
0=X-48
X=48
Your number is 48.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you have one number lets call it x
1/3 of x = 1/2 of x minus 8
(1/3)x=(1/2)x-8
multiply both sides by 6
2x=3x-48
subtract 2x and add 48 on both sides
