Question 168210: In the chemistry lab, a certain acid is stored in two different dilutions. One bottle cotains a weaker solution that is only 25% acid , but another has a stronger solution of 65% acids. Students must pour some from each container to make 60 ml of a solution that is 50% acid. How much from each container should be used

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In the chemistry lab, a certain acid is stored in two different dilutions. One bottle cotains a weaker solution that is only 25% acid , but another has a stronger solution of 65% acids. Students must pour some from each container to make 60 ml of a solution that is 50% acid. How much from each container should be used
-----------------------
acid + acid = acid
0.25x + 0.65(50-x) = 0.50*50
---------
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
25x + 65*50 -65x = 50*50
-40x = -15*50
x = 18.75 ml (amt. of 25% solution in the mixture)
50-x = 31.25 ml (amt. of 65% solution in the mixture)
