You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4.75(8)+5.50(y)=5.10(8+y) where y is the number of pounds of pork
38+5.50y=5.10y+40.8
.4y=2.8---->highlight%28y=7%29 pounds of pork to make the correct mixture

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let p= kg of groud pork to be used
5.5p= price of p kg of ground pork
4.75%2A8+=+38= the price of 8 kg of ground beef
5.5p+%2B+38= the price of all the meat used
p+%2B+8= kg of all the meat used
It is given that the price per kg of the mixture is $5.10
%285.5p+%2B+38%29+%2F+%28p+%2B+8%29+=+5.1
Mulltiply both sides by p+%2B+8
5.5p+%2B+38+=+5.1%2A%28p+%2B+8%29
5.5p+%2B+38+=+5.1p+%2B+40.8
.4p+=+2.8
p+=+7
7 kg of ground pork are needed
check answer:
%285.5p+%2B+38%29+%2F+%28p+%2B+8%29+=+5.1
%285.5%2A7+%2B+38%29+%2F+%287+%2B+8%29+=+5.1
%2838.5+%2B+38%29+%2F+%287+%2B+8%29+=+5.1
76.5+%2F+15+=+5.1
5.1+=+5.1
OK
