Question 167853: THE PERIMETER OF A TRIANGLE IS 378 YARDS. THE SHORTEST SIDE IS 30 YARDS LONGER THAN ONE-HALF OF THE LONGEST SIDE. THE SECOND LONGEST SIDE IS 2 YARDS SHORTER THAN THE LONGEST SIDE. WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF EACH SIDE? Answer by piyushkumar47(2) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the sides of triangle be ABC.
Let the longest side ie hypotenuse(AB) be x , then
base(CB) will be 30+1x/2 and perpendicular will be x-2.
perimeter of triangle = 378 yards
according to the question
x+ 30+1x/2+x-2= 378
2x+60+x+2x-4/2 {on taking L.C.M.}
5x+56/2 = 378
5x+56 = 378*2
5x = 756-56
x = 700/5
x = 140
Ans. AB = 140
BC = 100
Cd = 138
