t is time
.
Let x = time it takes to drive at 35 mph
30(x+2) = 35x
30x + 60 = 35x
60 = 5x
12 hours = x
.
Now, we know that if we were driving at 35 mph, the time it takes to drive between the two cities is 12 hours.
Converting that into distance:
d = rt
d = 35(12)
d = 420 miles
