Question 16768: An angle's measure is 24 degrees less than that of it's supplement. Find the measure of the angle. Would this be x+(x+24)=180? ???? Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The unknown angle is x degrees. Its supplement is (180 - x) degrees. 24 degrees less than that is [(180 - x) - 24]. The equation is:
x = [(180 - x) - 24] Simplify and solve for x.
x = 156 - x Add x to both sides.
2x = 156 Divide both sides by 2.
x = 78 degrees.
You have the right equation in a slightly differnt form, so you would get the same answer of x = 78 degrees. Congratulations!
Check:
(180-78) - 24 = 180 - 102 = 78
