"The product of 10 and a number p" is not enough information to solve this problem. First of all, is it times p, plus p, divided by p, or what? Second of all, in this equation you make it sound like p is a number, but it is not. It is a variable. Please rephrase your question.

The word "product" implies multiplication, just as "sum" would mean addition, and "difference" would mean subtraction. In this case an expression that meant the product of 10 and a number p would simply be 10p
