the x-intercept is when the graph crosses the x-axis __ at this point, y=0
__ similarly, the value of x is zero at the y-intercept

to find the x-intercept, substitute zero for y; and vice versa

x-intercept __ 12(0)+15(0)+21=4x-5(0)+7 __ 21=4x+7 __ 14=4x __ 3.5=x __ so the x-intercept is (3.5,0)

y-intercept __ 12y+15y+21=4(0)+5y+7 __ 27y+21=5y+7 __ 22y=-14 __ y=-7/11 __ so the y-intercept is (0,-7/11)
