You can put this solution on YOUR website!
California 1 South is a historical highway that stretches 123 miles along the coast from Monterrey to Moro Bay. Suppose that two cars start driving this highway, one from each town. they meet after three hours. find the speed of each car in mile per hour, if one car travels 1 mile per hour faster than the other car.
---------------------------------
Speed of one car = v
Speed of 2nd car = v+1
Since they're converging, their speeds are added, so it's 2v+1 mph
They travel 123 miles in 3 hours, so that's 123/3 = 41 mph
2v+1 = 41
2v = 40
v1 = 20 mph 1st car
v2 = 21 mph 2nd car
--------------------------
This is the PCH, Pacific Coast Highway, or at least part of it. Drive it when you get a chance, it's worth the time and trip.
