Question 166246: A rancher bought some calves for $170. "Jet Age" rustlers stole 6 of them. Four months later, the rancher sold the remaining calves for $240 each. He paid a feed bill of $400 and still made a profit of $4110. How many calves did he buy?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
hmmmm.
well it should be money recieved-costs=profit
money received would be (x-6)240 where x is the original amount of calves
costs equals 170+400=570
profit equals 4110
so that would be (x-6)240-570=4110
240x-1440-570=4110
240x=6120
x=25.5 which is the part that doesnt make much sense
but that is what I come up with rounded to nearest 1 would be 26 calves
