Question 16553: 1. 4a+5[1-3(2a-1)]=2(2a+5)
Answer by smik(40) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hmm... nasty looking problem. First of all we should foil everything out.
So, 4a+5*(1-3*(2a-1)) gives us:
4a+5-30a+15, which simplified gives us:
20-26a
Now, let's foil the other side, 2(2a+5), gives us:
4a+10
So, we've got:
20-26a = 4a+10
Now we should isolate the variable. So we can add 26a to each side, and subtract 10 from each side, to get:
10=30a
Now we solve for a by dividing both sides by 30 to get:
a = 0.3
