The way the problem is stated is confusing to me, but I think
I know what is meant
Let s= subscription price
Let a= price of each article read over 25
(1) s+%2B+3a+=+34.80
(2) s+%2B+5a+=+40.70
Subtract (1) from (2)
2a+=+5.90
a+=+2.95
Substitute this in (1)
(1) s+%2B+3a+=+34.80
s+%2B+3%2A2.95+=+34.80
s+=+34.80+-+8.85
s+=+25.95
a. The cost per archived article after the 1st 25 articles is $2.95
b. The cost of the magazine subscription is $25.95
