Question 165034: Hi, Can someone please help me?
.
Can someone please explain HOW to find the 3 different kinds of asymptotes in a rational equation? ( Horizontal asymptotes, Vertical asymptotes, Oblique asymptotes )
.
Can you do sort of give a little lesson on this subject? ( Such things like, "How to find Horizontal, Vertical, Oblique asymptotes", " When can you have an Oblique asymptote", " How/When can you get "potholes"( points on a line that can't be in an equation ) ", and similar questions )
.
Can you could give some rational equations ( several different kinds, ones that are fractions, improper fractions, ones that contain "potholes", and so forth ), along with how to find the asymptotes, or "potholes"
.
Please don't just give me the answers to the equations you give. I need to know how to get the asymptotes from an equation, please explain how you get your answers
.
Thank you so much ahead of time, Levi

You can put this solution on YOUR website! This is a very lengthy explanation to type. Send me your email address and I will send you some pictures of my teacher's book explaining asymptotes. If you feel comfortable sending me your phone number then I will call you and we can discuss the book. What class is this for and are you in high school or college?
If you are not satisfied with this response then repost your question and maybe someone else can help you.
Sincerely,
MRperkins
