Question 164842: As a homework problem, I am to construct a steel building 600 cu meters in size. My goal is to do it at the cheapest cost.
Bldg: W X L X H = 600 cu meters
Beams: $20W + $30L + $50H = Total Cost
I believe I have 4 unknowns, but I don't know how to set up the problem. Any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU! Answer by MRperkins(300) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you were just trying to make a cube, then the cheapest numbers would be W=600 L=1 and H=1
However this is not possible because you are trying to construct a steel building.
You need to identify what the limits are that you can live with for the height and length and then make the rest of the measurment the width.
A 1 meter tall building might be cheap but it would also be worthless.
