Question 164759: state whether each of the following relations is a function. If it is a function, state the independent variable and the correlation between variables.
1. Number of tickets sold for a benefit play and the amount of money made.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You can safely say that the amount of money made (M) is directly proportional to the number of tickets sold (T), or, M = kT
So the independent variable would be T, (the number of tickets sold), while M, (the amount of money made) would be the dependent variable.
This would be a function since for every value of the independent variable (T), you would get a unique value of the dependent variable (M), in other words, the value of the dependent variable (M) is uniquely determined by the value of the independent variable (T).
The correlation between the variables, as explained above, is M varies directly as T.
