Assume the problem is:
1%2F4 = 3- %28%282x-1%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29
Multiply equation by 4(x+2) to get rid of the denominators
4(x+2)*1%2F4 = 4(x+2)*3- 4(x+2)*%28%282x-1%29%29%2F%28%28x%2B2%29%29
cancel out the denominators and you have:
x + 2 = 12(x+2) - 4(2x-1)
:
x + 2 = 12x + 24 - 8x + 4
:
x + 2 = 4x + 28

2 - 28 = 4x - x
:
-26 = 3x
x = -26%2F3
