Question 163955This question is from textbook College Algebra
: An executive in an engineering firm earns a monthly salary plus a Christmas bonus of $8500. If she earns a total $97,300 per year, what is her monthly salary?
I can solve the problem, but don't know how to write the formula.
My thinking:
97,000 - 8500 = 88,800
88,800/12 = $7,400 per month

Answer by gonzo(654) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! annual salary = 12 * monthly salary plus bonus.
your equation is:
97300 = 12*x + 8500
subtract 8500 from both sides gets
88800 = 12*x
divide both sides of 12 gets
7400 = x
which is same as
x = 7400.

good thinking.
