You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given they both work at the same speed, then you know each of them did half the job in 3 hours.
So it will take each of them twice that to do the job alone. Answer 6 hours
Algebraically:
Let the Judd's rate = j and judy's rate = J
Given
J+=j+ they go the same rate
%28J+%2Bj%29+%2A+3+=+Fulljob both working together take 3 hours to do the whole thing
j+%2Bj+=+Fulljob%2F3 sub in judy's rate for Judd's using the first equation
2j+=+Fulljob%2F3
j+=+FullJob%2F6 so they are each able to do 1/6 of the job an hour.
How long do to the full job?
They'll need six hours each.
