You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5=-1/3y + 2/7
.
To attack this problem you're better off by:
1. find a common denominator (say, 21)
2. multiply BOTH sides by the common denominator
.
(21)5 = (21)(-1/3y + 2/7)
(21)5 = (21)(-1/3y + 2/7)
105 = -7/y + 6
99 = -7/y
99y = -7
y = -7/99
