Here is what I came up with:
1/2x-2=1/3(x-2)
1/2x-2=1/3x-2/3
6(1/2x-2)=(1/3x-2/3)6
3x-12=2x-12/3
3x-12=2x-4
+12 +12
3x =2x+8
-2x -2x
x =8
