Question 161910This question is from textbook
: 2. Consider the equation a/4 = 20 - a/6
a. Multiply each side by 12 and solve the resulting equation.
B. Multiply each side by 24 and solve the resulting equation.
c. What conclusions can you make from your work in parts a and b?
If you can show me the process of writing all the steps to solving this kind of equation that would be great. I have a way in my book i just can't understand it. Cause i dont learn by reading i learn from doing.
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a/4 = 20 - a/6
12(A/4)=12*20+12(-A/6)
12A/4=240-12A/6
3A=240-2A
3A+2A=240
5A=240
A=240/5
A=48 ANSWER.
24(A/4)=24*20+24(-A/6)
24A/4=480-24A/6
6A=480-4A
6A+4A=480
10A=480
A=480/10
A=48 ANSWER.
CONCLUSION: ANY COMMON MULTIPLIER, NOT NECESSARY THE LOWEST, CAN BE USED TO SOLVE THESE FRACTIONAL EQUATIONS
----------------------------------------
ANOTHER METHOD VERY SIMILAR BUT WITH LESS STEPS IS:A/4+A/6=20
(3A+2A)/12=20
5A/12=20
5A=12*20
5A=240
A=240/5
A=48 ANSWER.
A/4+A/6=20
(6A+4A)/24=20
10A=24*20
10A=480
A=480/10
A=48 ANSWER.
