Write an equation in standard form for the line that satisfied each set of conditions.
-passes thru the points (-1, 2)
-is parallel to the graph x-3y=14
I started with trying to find points for x and y, and then tried to apply that to slope-intercept form. After that, I got really confused. I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you!

Hi- I am stumped on a homework problem.
Write an equation in standard form for the line that satisfied each set of conditions.
-passes thru the points (-1, 2)
-is parallel to the graph x-3y=14

Parallel means it has the same slope.
1st, find the slope of x-3y=14
Put into slope-intercept form y=mx+b
x-3y=14
-3y = -x + 14
y = (1/3)x - 14/3
The slope, m, = 1/3
Then use the slope intercept-form to find the equation
y-y1 = m*(x-x1) (x1,y1) is the point (-1,2)
y-2 = (1/3)*(x-(-1))
y-2 = (x+1)/3
3y-6 = x+1
x-3y = -7
Notice that it's x-3y in both eqns, only the intercept is different. It's parallel, just shifted.
