Question 161312: simplify 2x [(4x2 + 6x - 2) + (4x2 - 8x)/2x]
Answer by schrammbledeggs(41) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! OK so first thing is distribute that 2x to the first part of the equation...
2x(4x2) + 2x(6x) - 2x(2)
8x3 + 12x2 - 4x
When distributing the 2x to the second part of the equation...take note of the 2x already in the denominator of the second part...these two will cancel out and you can just keep the 4x2 - 8x.
So so far we have...
(8x3 + 12x2 - 4x) + (4x2 - 8x)
Combine like terms...
8x3 + 12x2 + 4x2 - 4x - 8x
8x3 + 16x2 - 12x
Factor out a 4x...
FINAL SIMPLIFICATION:
4x(2x2 + 4x - 3)
