Question 160764: Three chickens were weighed in pairs; the first pair weighed in at 10.6 kg, the second pair weighed 8.5 kg, and the third pair weighed 6.1 kg. How much would the scale read if all three checkes were weighed at the same time? How many kilograms does each chicken weigh? Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! each chicken is a member of two pairs, so the combined weights of the pairs is double the total weight of the chickens
all three at same time __ (10.6+8.5+6.1)/2=12.6
10.6 is the two heaviest, so the lightest weighs 12.6-10.6 or 2
6.1 is the two lightest, so the heaviest weighs 12.6-6.1 or 6.5
the middle weight chicken weighs 12.6-2-6.5 or 4.1
