Question 160697: Please Help With This Problem:
SOLVE:
10 equals the square root of 5m+1, plus 6
(10= sq.rt 5m+1, + 6) Answer by gonzo(654) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 10 = square root of (5*m+1) + 6
subtract 6 from both sides and it becomes
4 = square root of (5*m+1)
square both sides and it becomes
16 = 5*m + 1
subtract 1 from both sides and it becomes
15 = 5*m
divide both sides by 5 and it becomes
3 = m
which becomes
m = 3.
-----
to prove this is correct, substitute in the original equation
10 = square root of (5*3 + 1) + 6
10 = square root of (16) + 6
10 = 4 + 6
10 = 10
answer is correct.
-----
answer is m = 3.
