You can put this solution on YOUR website! Cycle paths inc. makes bicycles, tricycles, and unicycles. Last week they made 88 more bicycles than unicycles, and 5 times as many tricycles as unicycles. If they made 40 more bicycles that tricycles, how many unicycles did they make? :
 Write an equation for each statement:
 "they made 88 more bicycles than unicycles,"
 b = u + 88
 :
 "and 5 times as many tricycles as unicycles."
 t = 5u
 :
 " If they made 40 more bicycles that tricycles,"
 b = t + 40
 ;
 how many unicycles did they make?
 :
 In the last equation, replace b with (u+88), and replace t with 5u
 u + 88 = 5u + 40
 88 - 40 = 5u - u
 48 = 4u
 u =
  u = 12 unicyles
 :
 Check solution in the last equation;
 b = 12 + 88 = 100
 t = 5(12) = 60
 :
 100 = 60 + 40
