| Question 159651: Please help me solve this problem step by step. I have spent more than 3 hours between 2 days on it. I have come up with several different answers and when I do the check they never work out. (x= 2.14, x=4, x= 1.25)
 5[2-(2x-4)] = 2(5-3x)
 5[2(-2x+4)] = 2(5-3x)
 5(-4x+8) = 10-6x
 -20x+40  = 10-6x
 -20x+6x+40  = 10-6x+6x
 -20x+6x+40  = 10
 -14x+40  = 10
 -14x+40-40  = 10-40
 -14x  = -30
 x=2.14
 I have done it several different ways. If you could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Please help me solve this problem step by step. I have spent more than 3 hours between 2 days on it. I have come up with several different answers and when I do the check they never work out. (x= 2.14, x=4, x= 1.25) 5[2-(2x-4)] = 2(5-3x)

 There's a lot of stuff here, I'll assume this is the problem, and that you want to solve for x. You didn't say.
 -------------
 5[2-(2x-4)] = 2(5-3x)
 5[2-2x +4] = 10 - 6x
 5[6 - 2x] = 10 - 6x
 30 - 10x = 10 - 6x
 20 - 10x = -6x
 20 = 4x
 x = 5
