You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The basic definition of slope is: change in y / change in x
It is given that this equals -%281%2F3%29
Also given is the point (3,2)
I can say %282+-+y%5B1%5D%29+%2F+%283+-+x%5B1%5D%29+=+-%281%2F3%29
Suppose I say y%5B1%5D+=+3
Now I have %282+-+3%29+%2F+%283+-+x%5B1%5D%29+=+-%281%2F3%29
%28-1%29+%2F+%283+-+x%5B1%5D%29+=+-%281%2F3%29
For this to be true, x%5B1%5D has to be 0
%28-1%29+%2F+%283+-+0%29+=+-%281%2F3%29
So this line also goes through (0,3)
Now just connect (3,2) and (0,3) to graph the line
I can check by finding the equation
y+=+mx+%2B+b
2+=+-%281%2F3%29%2A3+%2B+b
3+=+-%281%2F3%29%2A0+%2B+b
From the 2nd equation I get b+=+3, so
2+=+-%281%2F3%29%2A3+%2B+b
2+=+-1+%2B+b
b+=+3 so,
y+=+-%281%2F3%29x+%2B+3 This is the general equation
check for (0,3)
3+=+-%281%2F3%29%2A0+%2B+3
3+=+3
OK
