Question 158614: From Algebra with Pizzazz! worksheet, page 47.
Two consecutive even integers such that the sum of the larger and twice the smaller is 36. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x & x+2 are the 2 even integers.
(x+2)+2x=36
x+2+2x=36
3x=36-2
3x=34
x=34/3
x=11.3333 IS not an even integer.
I BELIEVE SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PROBLEM.
PROOF:
10+2*8=10+16=26
12+2*10=12+20=32
14+2*12=14+24=38
