Question 158598: #31. |2x-1|/|3|= 5

**The absolute value is all around 2x-1/3
I tried multiplying everything by 3 to get rid of the fraction and got:
|6x-3| = 15 and |6x-3| = -15
I solved the problem like that and got {-2, 3}
The answer shown at the end of the textbook is {-7,8}, but I don't know how they got that answer.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given : abs%282x-1%29%2Fabs%283%29=+5
abs%282x-1%29=+5+%2A+abs%283%29
abs%282x-1%29=+15
So when have 2 solutions:
2x-1=+15 and 2x-1=+-15
2x+=+16 and 2x+=+-14
x+=+8 and x+=+-7
get it?
