now take the square root of both sides
x%5E%28-2%2A%281%2F2%29%29+=+4
x%5E%28-1%29+=+4
multiply both sides by x
1+=+4x
x+=+1%2F4 answer
check:
x%5E%28-2%29+=+16
%281%2F4%29%5E%28-2%29+=+16
1+%2F+%281%2F4%29%5E2+=+16
multiply both sides by %281%2F4%29%5E2
1+=+16%2A%281%2F16%29
1+=+1
