A gallon of Del Monte White Vinegar is labeled 5% acidity. How many fluid ounces of pure acid must be added to get 6% acidity?
There is an answer at the end of the book, and my answer comes sooo close to theirs but for some reason I just can't get it to match theirs exactly! Please help!
Thank you so much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 gallon = 128 fluid ounces
If I add x ounces of 100% acid to create 6% acidity,
the equation to solve is
6=%28128%285%29%2Bx%28100%29%29%2F%28128%2Bx%29
Solve for x.
6%28128%2Bx%29=%28128%285%29%2Bx%28100%29%29
768%2B6x=640%2B100x
-94x=-128
x=128%2F94=64%2F47
Approximately,
x=1.36 fluid ounces
