I don't see any X, do you mean solve for y?
5%2Aabs%28y%2B9%29+=+15 First, divide both sides by 5.
abs%28y%2B9%29+=+3 Remove the absolute-value bars and write the two equations:
y%2B9+=+3 or y%2B9+=+-3 Now solve each of these.
y%2B9+=+3 Subtract 9 from both sides.
y+=+-6 or
y%2B9+=+-3 Subtract 9 from both sides.
y+=+-12
In case you really did mean X, then just replace the y with X.
