Find three consecutive even integers such that the product of five and the third integer is four more than two times the sum of the first two numbers.
Solution:
Let the first intiger=x
The second intiger =x+2
The third intiger =x+4
(the difference between two consecutive integer is 2 eg 2,4,6,8,.....)
five time the third intiger=5(x+4)
two time the sum of first two intiger=2{(x+2)+(x+4)}=2{2x+6}=4x+12
According to the given condition
5(x+4)-4=4x+12
5x+20-4=4x+12
5x+16=4x+12
5x-4x=12-16
x=-4
