: Please help me with this problem.
The astronomy club at King Middle School is planning a field trip to the science center to see a new 3-D science film. Renting a bus for the trip will cost $125. Admission to the film is $2.50 per person.
a) Write an equation to show the relationship between the number of students who go on the trip, n, and the cost of the trip, c.
My answer is c = 2.50n + 125. Is this right?
d) What do the slope and the y-intercept of the graph tell you about the cost and the number of students? I have no idea, please help.
Thank you so much for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a) You are correct. Try some values of "n" if you need a clear picture of what's going on. For instance, if 10 students go, then c=2.5%2810%29%2B125=25%2B125=150 which means that the cost will be $150.

d) The y-intercept is that initial cost. As you increment the number of students, that cost will increment by $2.50 (which is the slope). So for instance, you start at $125 (which is the rent), and one student goes, then the cost is c=2.5%281%29%2B125=2.5%2B125=127.5. Notice how $127.5 is $2.50 more than $125
