Question 157033: 5. As much as I try, I still need to see what's before me in order to understand the idea of solving with Factoring. How would I do this problem? What is the answer when solved with factoring? Thank you so much.

3x^2 + 6x = 2x^2 - 9

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Equate the equation to zero by combining all terms to one side:
3x%5E2+%2B+6x+=+2x%5E2+-+9 -------------> working eqn
3x%5E2%2B6x-2x%5E2%2B9=0, do the operations (add or subtract)
x%5E2%2B6x%2B9=0, factor out since it's a perfect square
%28x%2B3%29%28x%2B3%29=0 ---------> final answer
To check, subsitute x=-3 to your working eqn:
3%28-3%29%5E2%2B%286%29%28-3%29=2%28-3%29%5E2-9
%283%29%289%29-18=18-9
27-18=18-9
9=9
Thank you,
