You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many kilograms of antifreeze must be added to 10 kg. of 20% antifreeze solution to produce a 50% solution?
.
Let x = amount of 100% antifreeze added
.
"amt of antifreeze added" + "amt of antifreeze in original solution" = "50% of volume of new mixture"
mathematically, it would be:
x + .20(10) = .50(x+10)
x + 2 = .5x + 5
.5x = 3
x = 6 kg
