Question 156590: Can someone show me how this is set up and done...thanks
Suppose that a household's monthly water bill (in dollars) is a linear function of the amount of water the household uses (in hundreds of cubic feet, HCF).
the function gives a line with a slope of 1.35
If the monthly bill for 23 HCF is $26.67, what is the monthly bill for 29 HCF?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-----------------------------------------
You have a slope (1.35) and a point (26.6,23 HCF)
Find the intercept: 23 = 1.35*26.6 + b
b = -12.91
-----------------
EQUATION:
Bill(x) = 1.35x -12.91 where x is water use in HCF.
-----------------------
Bill(29) = 1.35*29 - 12.91
Bill(29) = $26.24

Stan H.
