: The measure of the smallest angle of a right triangle is 15 degrees less than half the measure of the next smallest angle. What is the measure of each angle?
I drew out the triangle, assuming since it said a right triangle that one of the angles is 90, but that would mean that each other the other angles would be equal, please help. This question is from textbook Academic Systems Elementary Algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The measure of the smallest angle of a right triangle is 15 degrees less than half the measure of the next smallest angle. What is the measure of each angle?
------------------
Let the 2nd smallest angle = "x":
Then smallest angle = "(x/2)-15":
And largest angle = 90
---------------------
EQUATION:
angle + angle + angle = 180
x + (x/2)-15 + 90 = 180
(3/2)x = 105
x = 35*2 = 70 degrees (2nd largest)
(70/2)-15 = 20 degrees (smallest)
