x+4 and x-4 can NEVER be equal.

x+4 means to add 4 to a number.

If you add 4 to a number you will get a number greater than x.

x-4 means to subtract 4 from a number.

If you subtract 4 from a number you will get a number less than x.

A number greater than x can NEVER be equal to a number less than x.

Example

7+4 and 7-4 are NOT equal because the first is 11, which is greater 
than 7, and 7-4 is 3, which is less than 7.
