You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Okay, we'll equate the 2 plans nad let X= miles that Tom needs to drive for them to be equal:
1stplan=2nd+plan ---------------------> working eqn
55.96%2B%280.15%2Fmile%29%28x%29=67.96%2B%280.11%2Fmile%29%28x%29
%280.15%2Fmile%29%28x%29-%280.11%2Fmile%29%28x%29=67.96-55.96
%280.04%2Fmile%29%28x%29=12.00
%28cross%280.04%29%2Fmile%29%28x%29%2Fcross%280.04%29=cross%2812%29300%2Fcross%280.04%29
x=300miles -------------> FINAL ASNWER
In doubt? go back each plan:
PLAN 1:
55.96%2B%280.15%2Fmi%29%28300%29 = $100.96
PLAN 2:
67.96%2B%280.11%2Fmi%29%28300%29= $100.96
Thank you,
Jojo

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The first plan costs $55.96 for two days plus 15 cents per mile.
Then y=55.96+0.15x (where x are miles)
The second plan costs $67.96 for two days plus 11 cents per mile.
then y=67.96+0.11x(where x are miles)
How many miles does Tom need to drive for the two plans to cost the same?
then
55.96+0.15x =67.96+0.11x
then
-12=-0.04x
x=12/0.04=300
Answer: 300 miles
